The Internet is “dominated” by rumors, nobody can deny this. Some of the rumors are meant to do harm, some of them are well-intended. Some of the rumors are based on something real, some of them are pure fiction, but when it comes to this thing, I don’t know what to say.
I guess you’ve all heard of the Gphone or Google Phone. Last year, everybody was crazy about this thing which was destined to become “the iPhone killer”, but Google denied every single rumor regarding the release of a device like this. Despite Google’s statements, some reports even had some pictures of the so-called Gphone, but then again, Google announced the Android and the Open Handset Alliance which meant “bye-bye Gphone”.
Although they played-down these talks, Google didn’t exclude the possibility of designing their own cellphone, not only creating one of best open source mobile operating system.
Last week, Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin, and CEO Eric Schmidt, were at at press conference which lasted around 75 minutes to talk about “their impressions on the state of the technology community and Google’s place in it”.
Dan Cox from The Hollywood Reporter also stated that “the trio of Google execs also used the opportunity to talk about the inroads the company is making with its own branded mobile phone as a replacement for the iPhone” which is pointing that Google is building a Gphone.
At this point we were getting more and more excited, but then we heard that Dan Cox might have mixed-up the trio’s statements and he made a confusion. We would like to see a Gphone that’s why we kept gathering information and once again, Michael Arrington from TechCrunch gave us some good news thanks to his good source which “swears that Ammunition Group is designing the Gphone and that it is a seriously beautiful device”.
In the picture above there is a cellphone which was designed by Ammunition Group for Sprint and we would really like to see a Google branded mobile phone and if it will look as great as the above one then it pose a threat to the iPhone (actually, against iPhone 3G). So, until Google confirms or denies the rumors we will sit around and watch. Personally, I can’t wait to see the Gphone (or however they will gonna call it).
