Solar Lily Pads - River Clyde, Scotland

It seems like everybody is thinking about renewable energy which is a very good thing because it’s the best way to save our planet. Even if Scotland’s climate is kind of rainy and most of the times cloudy, the ZM Architecture came up with a plan that will harness solar power.

The design is called Solar Lily Pads and will pe situated on the River Clyde, in Glasgow. According to the architecture firm, the river is the perfect place for the lily pads which will get energy and will provide electricity for the city of Glasgow. Also, another advantage of the Solar Lily Pads is that they will stimulate urban riverfront activity.

This project was awarded first place in the International Design Awards “Land and Sea” competition and the City Council of Glasgow was really impressed by the Solar Lily Pads and now they are looking into the possibility of testing a small pilot in collaboration with the Glasgow Science Centre.
