Apple had a huge success with the iPhone, the iPhone 3G and with the iPod Nano in all countries where these products were sold. However, specialists and users said that these gadgets are incomplete and they could use some adjustments, so a series of rumors appeared, of which the most exciting rumor is the iPhone nano.
This rumor is more than one year long, but it was just resurrected by the Daily Mail. They got the rumor from a trusted industry source.
This iPhone iPod nano could prove to be even more successful than Apple’s other products and one advantage is that it will be released just days before Christmas and will make a perfect gift. It seems like the handset will be released in the UK by O2 because this company has iPhone’s exclusive rights in the UK.
“The iPhone 3G has been the fastest-selling phone ever in the UK, but it is too expensive to be a realistic proposition in the pay-as-you-go market. However, a cut down version, with the candy bar shape of iPod nano music players, would be a huge hit as a Christmas gift,” said an industry source.

Another advantage is that the iPhone nano will cost £150 or $300 for pay-as-you-go customers of the O2 group. We heard that this device will feature a 2.75-inch screen, MultiTouch and will be available in 4GB or 8GB capacities, but we are not sure what to think about the fact that the iPhone nano will not have Internet access and will only support T9 keypad.
For the moment we don’t know if the handset will be available on the US or other markets, but we know that not many Americans are enjoying PrePay, therefore Apple might want to push their luck on the European market. In September, Apple will hold a small conference and they could announce the iPhone nano. Until then we can only hope that we will receive one as a Christmas gift.

An iPhone with all the best bits stripped out. Err, no thanks.

Useless without the web. People will buy it not knowing what they’re getting. They can’t call it an iPhone either, they’ll just have to call it a “phone”…

No internet? T9? Really?
Frankly this sounds like both a good idea and a horrible idea. I like the idea of a smaller iPhone, because sometimes you just don’t want the bulk of the iPhone 3G in your pocket, but I couldn’t handle not having a smartphone. It would seem like too much of a downgrade.
Also, why T9? Why not take a page from RIM, and either create their own version of the SureType keyboard, or just license it from RIM? It would give you a “QWERTY” keyboard without having to reduce each individual key to something only a baby’s fingers could accurately hit.
