Q1 UMPC Announced For Next Year

Posted on 23 May 2008

Although UMPCs have pretty much been set aside by competitors, Samsung are not giving up their plans for the Q1 UMPC. Two years after they launched the first Q1 model in the US, Samsung’s responsible for the Q1 series, Jeongseon Euh, told Tech Radar that the Q1 Ultras and about 100,000 Q1 have shipped out, mostly to education customers.

The UMPC market may not be too extensive, but this still means 65% of it, and Samsung have no intention to give it up. Euh also stated that the next model of Q1 will be ready for shipping next year, and some of us might expect it to be powered by an Atom processor.
