Intel is preparing to introduce three new desktop processors, based on their Nehalem architecture. There will be two quad processors and one extreme, for gaming platforms.
The processors will be codenamed Bloomfield and will clock at 2.66Ghz, 2.93Ghz and, respectively, 3.2Ghz, supporting 1066Mhz DDR3 memories.
The company claimed that the Extreme CPU will run at 6.4GT/s, while the others at 4.8GT/s, due to it’s latest QuickPath Interconnect ( QPI ) bus.
The CPUs will be compatible with LGA1366 sockets and will feature 8MB of L3 cache, supporting all Intel’s technologies, except the Trusted eXecution Technology ( TXT ). We should see them in stores as of Q4, this year, for an undisclosed price yet.
