The Ziggurat Coming To Dubai - A Carbon Neutral City For 1 Million People

Ziggurat

It doesn’t surprise me anymore that Dubai are planning to build another incredible structure which actually is a self-sustaining city of the future. It will be called Ziggurat and will provide housing for about 1 million inhabitants. The city was inspired by temple towers from ancient Mesopotamia and the design resembles a terraced pyramid just like a ziggurat.

Timelinks is an environmental design company with its headquarters in Dubai and they will reveal the final project at the Cityscape Dubai which will be held at the beginning of October. This new type of city will be “almost totally self-sufficient energy-wise. Apart from using steam power in the building we will also employ wind turbine technology to harness natural energy resources,” said Ridas Matonis, Managing Director of Timelinks.

The Ziggurat will be a 2.3 square-kilometer pyramid and hopefully, the people won’t be affected by the fact that they are going to live in this type of building. However, in order to make them all of them feel at one’s ease, the architects have designed spaces for public and private landscaping.

Ziggurat

The main purpose of the Ziggurat is to ensure a better quality of life with almost zero-carbon emissions as there will be no cars thanks to the complex transportation system that will be based on an integrated 360 degree network. The security system will be based on facial recognition technique thanks to biometrics therefore all the inhabitants should feel safe in the Ziggurat.

For the moment there are needed a lot of details to be taken care of, but the architects have enough time until October. Also, I think that the project will suffer minor changes as this is a totally new type of structure and the designers don’t really know if all their calculations are correct.

They know that their oil will not last forever that’s why they are now focusing on becoming a major tourist destination in the world by creating magnificent structures.

What? Lintek, Dubai gets less than 8% of it’s income from oil.

Most of the economy is based on trade.

The idea of self-sufficient building is cool, but who will agree to live in a 1 Mio inhabitants building? And I’d be interested to see what are their evacuations plans in case of emergency…
