In the past we presented you some impressive cars, motorcycles and other machines which could transport us in the future. Here is another intriguing car concept that was designed by two students of the IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) in Turin. The concept was created in collaboration with BMW and it consists of “Designing the BMW of 2015.”

It’s called BMW ZX-6 and it was designed by Jai Ho Yoo and Lukas Vanek to fulfill all the wishes and the lifestyle of a person. You may think that it looks like a toy, but this is how modern cars will look and the students let their imagination run wild.

In the picture above you can see the BMW Vela Concept designed by Andrea Corona, Alex Mastinu and Yim Sumi. Although it didn’t receive too many praises, I think that it’s really cool and it should be taken into consideration.

The next concept is called BMW Africa and it was inspired by the African lifestyle. The idea of the designers was to create a car that decomposes itself depending on the needs of a person. BMW Africa was envisioned by Raphael Laurent and Mihai Panaitescu, and the concept was appreciated by the IED commission.

The last concept that was welcomed by the “audience” is called BMW SNUG Concept and it’s destined for the people who want simple and fun things in a “chaotic, confusing, grey and polluted” future. SNUG was designed by David Raffai, Kevin Schlaepfer, Andrea Torchia and Alberto Usai, and it would surely bring joy into our lives because “we risk becoming automatons, slaves to money and personal success.”

GOOD! I’ll be able to afford one by 2060 if they come out by 2020! I’m psyched!!! I’ll be 75, but I’m sure I’ll still enjoy it!

I know these are concept cars, but the first one…WHA?
What landscape/cityscape could accommodate those pointed bits with hardly any clearance on either side of the car? They’d never make it over an elevated rail road crossing, much less a typical pot-holed road…
How would the uni-window not completely shower the driver and passengers with shards of glass in the event of a collision?
Where’s the rear visibility for drivers gone?
I would tend to excuse this as an exercise in aesthetics, but quality design has always incorporated usability and functionality with beauty.

The BMW Africa was “inspired by the African lifestyle?” Really? What part of the African lifestyle, specifically? Has anyone involved with this concept every actually been to Africa? Or have they seen what the “African lifestyle” is?
In Africa, you can expect to live in abject poverty for the length of your life. In Africa, you have to carry your water every day from a source 1.5 kilometers away from your home. In Africa, there’s a greater than 1-in-5 chance that you’ll die before you’re 15.
How nice that this shiny car reflects this existence.

Oh, just f**k right off! I need a two seater tandem style carbon fiber bodied, safe, three-wheel, ultra fast, diesel/electric plug-in that gets a million miles to a gallon and that will last forever without repairs or replacement just to commute to and from work and my over mortgaged, over sized, over priced, McMansion, and keep my low -paying, insecure, down-sizable, exportable job. The a**holes at BMW better smarten up, or prepare to be replaced by a logical Chinaman with a realistic perception of life in present day America and a commuter car to fit my needs and abilities to pay and circumstances! The oil is running out, the resources are drying up, we are burning food to drive, we are in deeper debt than any other nation in history, our government prints money to fight wars for other people they favor personally, we suffer horrendous inflation on money that is getting scarce, we are taxed beyond fairness, we have a standard of living we can no longer afford and we are getting tired! Give us what we practically and realistically need and can afford or anticipate our mass resignation in the form of the next great depression!
