Nearly a year after their last sold-out collaboration, Tyler “the Creator” Okonma and Converse are back with a new take on a classic sneaker. Okonma’s apparel brand, Golf le Fleur, is bringing his eclectic, vibrant style to four dialed-up versions of Chuck 70 low-tops.

The sneakers are available in new colorways of le Fleur’s signature digi camo print, a leopard-esque pattern rendered in chunky pixels. Fans can choose from neon pink and red, multicolored rainbow, white and blue, or subtle monochromatic green. The Fleur Camo Chucks dropped online this week for $120 a pair, and based on the success of past collaborations, there’s no telling how quickly sneakerheads will snap them up.

The partnership with Okonma goes back to 2017, when the musician helped revitalize the Converse brand after it suffered a yearslong sales slump. His first five collections were instant hits, selling out quickly and launching Converse back into the zeitgeist. Since then, their collaboration has included an iconic redesign of the Converse One Star, two limited-time opportunities for fans to design their own le Fleur-inspired pumps, and a series called “Tyler Talks,” where Okonma shares insights with young creatives. All of Okonma’s previous co-branded sneakers are currently sold out on the company’s website.

According to Matt Sleep, design director at Converse, this most recent collaboration started as a gift from the company to Okonma.

“Tyler is a fan of the Chuck 70 ox, and we originally created multiple versions of the camo print for him to wear for personal use,” Sleep wrote in an email to Fast Company. “He wore a pink pair of the camos publicly, and there was such interest in the style that we approached Tyler about opening up four colorways to consumers. He said yes.”

The Fleur Camo collection comes with several of Okonma’s personalized touches. On the pink and rainbow shoes, translucent toe caps add a playful detail. And there’s an Easter egg hidden on all of the shoes’ soles: An image of a bellhop carrying two suitcases, which mirrors Okonma’s outfit at the 2020 Grammy Awards, as well as the travel-inspired visuals for his 2021 album Call Me If You Get Lost.

“Often within this partnership, the styles we release to consumers are an extension of Tyler’s personal style, creativity, and curation at a given moment in time,” Sleep wrote. “That’s partly, in my opinion, how he’s built such a loyal following—consumers want to tap into his creative world and have a piece of it.”
