Most stores in the U.S. are closed on Thanksgiving Day to give employees the day off to be with family and friends on what could arguably be the most American holiday of the year.

Still, a few retailers stay open because they know shoppers will need to make a last-minute run for an extra stick of butter or can of cranberry sauce (um, that’s me).

And with Black Friday starting even earlier this year, some consumers may even be getting in some Christmas shopping. This year, many Black Friday deals started long before Thanksgiving, extending the one-day discount into a sales event that lasts for weeks.

My kid is sick. Are any 24-hour pharmacies open?
