Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has hired two strategic industry veterans to lead separate ventures in its internet and drone delivery divisions.
Alphabet
said it named Dinesh Jain, a former Time Warner Cable chief operating officer, to chief executive officer of its internet service company, Access. Jain left Time Warner Cable in 2016 when it merged with Charter Communications. Jain replaces former Access CEO Greg McCray, who left last year.
Access, under the Google Fiber and the Webpass brands, provides high-speed internet speeds enabling rapid search results. Service expanded to 20 markets across the United States last year following launches in San Antonio, Texas, Seattle, and other cities.
Faisal Masud, a former Amazon, eBay and Groupon employee, held the title of chief technology officer at Staples, joins co-heads James Ryan Burgess and Adam Woodworth on the leadership team at Project Wing. He takes the role of head of operations. The project’s goal is to develop a new way to deliver packages using drones.
