Amazon Ranks Most Visible In Ecommerce Category For Google U.S. | DeviceDaily.com

Amazon’s distinction of being the top-performing ecommerce domain in Google search results in many countries worldwide in a way validates Catalyst Capital Group’s post on how Google made its biggest financial mistake. — a mistake that required advertisers to pay to get listed in Google Shopping. (See February 22, 2019 edition).

The Searchmetrics study identifies Amazon as having the six top most visible domains in France, Germany and Austria, Italy, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom.

About 18% of the websites with the most improved search performance within the ten regions that were analyzed are ecommerce sites. Of these, the study reveals that Amazon is the clear leader in organic search across national boundaries.

The overall findings of its annual SEO World Rankings study, which analyzes search results from ten national Google indexes worldwide, determines the top ten performers in organic search in each country.

This analysis enabled Searchmetrics to identify the overall list of five top globally based on the number of countries a site ranks in the list of top ten performers nationally and how highly it features in each list.

The top five in organic search included Wikipedia.org as No. 1, YouTube.com followed as No. 2, Facebook.com No. 3, Google.com No. 4, and Twitter.com No. 5.

It’s important to note that the measure of search visibility and search performance used in the analysis is based on an index score that quantifies how prominently a website appears in organic search results. It is based on the organic rankings of the millions of keywords that Searchmetrics tracks in each country every week.

The calculation for the SEO Visibility score is based on the number of times a domain appears in the search engine results pages (SERPs) across the keyword set. Its prominence within those SERPs. A higher ranking equates to a higher visibility score, and the competitiveness of the keyword.
