AMD Radeon RX 480 Launched Officially, 8GB Variant Costs $239 USD, ROG Strix RX 480 Coming Soon

 

After lots of leaks, rumors, and speculations, the AMD Radeon RX 480 has been officially launched today. There was hardly anything left to be known as leaks had confirmed almost all the specs. Still, as a reminder for fans, the RX 480 features the Polaris 10 XT GPU and is made using the 14nm FinFET process. The card gets 2304 Stream Processors, 32 ROPs, and 144 TMUs.

The AMD Radeon RX 480 card comes with 8GB GDDR5 memory on a 256-bit interface, and there’s a 4GB variant too. Base clock is 1120 MHz and boost clock is 1266 MHz, with the memory clock set at 2000 MHz. Overclocked XFX RX 480 cards will also be released, while it is being believed that overclocking RX 480 to 1.4 GHz isn’t possible.

The Radeon RX 480 price is $199 for the 4GB version, while the 8GB variant costs $239. Asus has announced that ROG Strix RX 480 cards are coming soon. The ROG Strix variant comes with DirectCU III cooling for a quieter and faster GPU. The backplate with new Aura RGB lighting looks cool, while GPU Tweak II lets you overclock in one click (advanced users can make use of the professional mode).

With the ROG Strix card, you can record and stream gameplay using the XSplit Gamecaster. The card comes with a dedicated HDMI 2.0b port for VR and AMD FreeSync for supporting gaming monitors like MG24uQ, MG248Q, etc.
