AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Beats Intel Kaby Lake CPU in a New Benchmark Leak
It was just two days back when AMD made its Ryzen processors official along with their pricing details. The Ryzen 7 1700X processor was priced at $399 that comes with 8 cores and 16 threads. AMD did announce during the launch that it had exceeded its 40 percent instructions per cycle improvement goal by 12 percent. This has already started to evince the potential of the new processors in the benchmark tests where the 1700X managed to beat even an Intel Kaby Lake processor.
The company has shown that its products are worth enough to beat even the newest offerings from Intel and this benchmark result shoe this beyond doubt. The Ryzen 1700X won against the Intel Core i5-7500 in single threaded performance in a benchmark test on Userbench.
You must note that the Ryzen 1700X CPU was running at its base clock speed at 3.4 GHz and the Turbo mode was disabled. On the other hand, the Intel Core i5 chip was running with its Turbo mode enabled, taking its clock speed from 3.4 GHz to 3.8 GHz, because the Core i5-7500 operates at its highest Turbo frequency in single-threaded workload.
With its Turbo mode disabled and running at 3.4 GHz, the Ryzen 1700X processor managed to get a score of 111, matching it with the Core i5-7500 that was running at 3.8 GHz with its turbo mode enabled. The difference in their clock speed was close to 12 percent.
There is one thing that can make the benchmark result biased is that the Ryzen CPU has access to 8MB of L3 cache, while the Intel processor had 6MB of L3 cache. AMD Ryzen 7 1700X was put against Intel Core i7-7700K pushed to 4.5 GHz with Turbo to even out the competition. The Intel processor scored 140, while the Ryzen’s scores were scaled up to 4.5GHz to give 147. More cache did bring out some great results, while the gap between the two was reduced from 12 percent to 5 percent.
This is not the first time that the Ryzen 7 1700X processor was able to beat an Intel processor, it has achieved the feat in the past, too. Not only the 1700X, the Ryzen 7 1800X, which is much better in performance, could manage to tackle even the best of Intel.
