Chicken Named Gloria Determines Which Burger King Restaurants Get Chicken Fries
It’s not the first time a chicken has been called upon to make a decision, but this time her deliberation will be live streamed and shared on Facebook and Twitter.
A while back, Burger King introduced chicken fries — basically chicken fingers shaped like french fries — and they were a big hit. The brand brought them back last summer and quickly “ran out” as if there were some sort of worldwide chicken shortage.
Anyway, playing up this “scarcity,” Burger King has teamed with a chicken named Gloria who will go on a road show and determine whether or not Burger King restaurants across the nation will experience a return of the much-loved chicken fries. This road show will be documented via a live stream and shared through social media.
To make the determination, Gloria will rise up a ramp from a specially designed coop and choose between two bowls of food. One is labeled “yes.” The other, “no.” That simple choice will determine whether or not a given restaurant will get the fries.
Gloria begins her tour in the New York area and the excitement is being shared on the brand’s Facebook and Twitter pages with the hashtag #chickenfries:
And just a few hours ago, a live stream shows Gloria saying “yes” to the Burger King located at 3933 Bladensburg Road Colmar Manor, MD.
The live streams are hosted on chickenfries.com where visitors can meet Gloria and follow her travels across the country.
Of course, not everyone is pleased with the promotion and are taking to Twitter to share their concerns:
And what would a promotion involving an animal be without PETA jumping into the conversation:
That’s not stopping Burger King though. They’re also putting their message in front of everyone searching Google for “chicken fries”:
