Facebook Wants to Help You Find a Place to Live

Facebook announced this week that they are adding a dedicated section in their Marketplace for rental properties.
Marketplace Rental Category Makes Sense
According to Facebook, since January 1, 2017 the search volume in its Marketplace tab has grown 3 times globally.
Facebook stated that, “Starting Nov. 9, people using Marketplace in the US will be able to browse and search hundreds of thousands of rental units through partnerships with Apartment List and Zumper.”
Rentals Tab
The new tab will allow users to narrow their search, view images and then get in contact with the rental listing manager, all via the Marketplace tab.
According to Facebook, the initial features of the new Rentals tab will include:
- Custom filters for location, price, bedrooms, bathrooms, rental type, square footage, dog/cat friendly
- A broader selection of rental listings
- Ability to upload 360 photosto individual rental listings, giving potential renters the chance to see around every corner like never before
Facebook Marketplace Feature is Thriving
Facebook Marketplace was launched in October 2016, allowing users to list items for sale and search for items they are interested in purchasing.
Facebook has reported that more than 18 million new items were posted for sale in the Facebook Marketplace in the United States in May 2017. 550 million people visit buy-and-sell groups on the platform each month.
Last month Facebook launched their Vehicles tab, partnering with Edmunds, SOCIALDEALER, Cars.com, CDK Global, and Auction123. The Vehicles tab takes the Marketplace into the car buying realm.
Facebook allows car buyers to view auto dealer inventories, view the Kelley Blue Book car values, and chat directly with the dealerships representatives.
