Galaxy Note 7/Note 6 Release: Iris Scanner, Snapdragon 821, 6GB RAM, and More
Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S7 smartphone has received a great welcome from buyers, and the company is now concentrating on its next smartphones. Before launching the Galaxy S8 next year, the company has to launch the next phone in its Galaxy Note series, the Galaxy Note 7. Previously called the Galaxy Note 6, the phablet is going to be unveiled soon and will carry mammoth specs. A lot of leaks and rumors have already given us an idea of what the device will offer in terms of hardware and software.
Let’s talk about the latest rumors first. CNET has reported that the Galaxy Note 7 will come with an iris scanner that will use your eyes to unlock the device, just like a fingerprint sensor users your fingers. This will provide enhanced security to the phablet. This feature has been tipped many months back, and Samsung has used an iris scanner in its Galaxy Tab Iris, so there is no reason why the Note 7 won’t get this feature. Also, import and export data and a screenshot from the new Galaxy Beta program confirms the presence of iris scanner.
A WCCFTech report says that the Galaxy Note 7 will sport Qualcomm’s next Snapdragon 821 processor that will be reportedly faster than the Snapdragon 820 current flagships are using. It will not only provide better speeds but might also be more power efficient and provide better battery life to the phone. The phone will be powered by Exynos 8890 in some regions. Also, the phablet will flaunt USB Type-C, 6GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage along with a large 4000mAh battery.
It was earlier being expected that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 aka Galaxy Note 6 might launch with the upcoming Android N pre-installed. However, a recent leak and the fact that Android N will not be launched so soon has confirmed that the phablet will come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. Also, the Galaxy Note 7 name has been confirmed by many leaks and the company is most likely not going to call it Galaxy Note 6.
As for the release date, BGR pointed out that popular leakster Evan Blass aka @evleaks has given out the release date already. The reliable tipster has suggested a couple of times that the Galaxy Note 7 release date will be in August, which is just a month before Apple launches the iPhone 7 series. This will really make the competition very fierce, and it will be very exciting to see what Samsung introduces in the new phablet to beat the next iPhone.
Other rumors and leaks suggest that the Note 7 will come with a 5.8-inch 2K display or possibly a 2.5K Super AMOLED screen with an improved S Pen. There will be a Galaxy S7 Edge variant too, and the phones will come with Gorilla Glass 4. One variant will get 4GB RAM and another will feature 6GB RAM. The storage options might be spread out across 32/64/128/256 GB of UFS 2.0 memory. It is being expected that the Galaxy Note 7 will use the same camera as the Galaxy S7.
More details are expected to leak out soon, so stay tuned.
