iPhone 7 vs. Samsung Galaxy S7: Which One Will Be the Best Flagship of 2016
Apple is working on its next flagship phone, the iPhone 7, and the company is trying very hard to keep the device tightly under wraps. But a lot of leaks and rumors have already suggested a rough idea of the phone, how it will look, and what features it will be carrying. There’s no competition for the iPhone except Samsung’s Galaxy S flagship, and the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be a tough competitor to the iPhone 7.
So how will the two phones fare against each other? Let’s compare with all the information we have right now.
iPhone 7 vs. Samsung Galaxy S7
Design and Looks
Talking about the Galaxy S7, Samsung has taken the successful design of the S6 and made it more polished and premium. It looks elite with great curves at the right places, and the phone fits perfectly in your hand like it should.
Talking about the iPhone 7, it won’t get a major design difference from the iPhone 6s. The antenna bands have been repositioned for a cleaner look of the back, and the camera module is slightly different. There might be no 3.5mm headphone jack, and it is possible that the phone might get a waterproof body. Lastly, some new rumors suggest that the iPhone 7 might get a hidden Touch ID fingerprint sensor, thus making the front of the phone plain.
Anyway, looks are subjective and both the phones look equally premium and perfect.
Display and Camera
The Galaxy S7 gets a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD screen with 577ppi of pixel density, and it is undoubtedly the best display in the smartphone market. The S7 gets a 5MP front camera and an excellent 12.2MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, OIS, PDAF, etc. providing crystal clear shots with great details and excellent low-light performance.
As for the iPhone 7, chances are the screen size will not be changed. It will get a 4.7-inch screen, and it is possible that the resolution of the display might be bumped up to Quad HD. We still doubt though if the iPhone 7’s screen will be able to beat the S7’s screen. Also, the iPhone 7 will get as 5MP wide angle camera on the front and 12MP OIS camera on the back with 4K recording, and it gives a tough competition to the Galaxy S7’s camera.
Processor and Memory
The Samsung Galaxy S7 gets 32GB of onboard storage, and thankfully, it gets a microSD slot for expansion. It is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm (or Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 in some regions) and gets 4GB of RAM.
As for the iPhone 7, it will come with the A10 processor under its hood and is rumored to get 3GB of RAM. There will be several storage variants of the phone including a 256GB storage variant.
Other Features
The iPhone 7 Plus will get a dual camera, and it is possible that it might come with waterproofing. The Galaxy S7 is already waterproof and dustproof. Both the phones get NFC and fingerprint sensors to support Apply Pay and Samsung Pay.
