Some high-end audio speakers will be coming with smarts built in.

At CES in January, LG is introducing its first premium smart AI audio product, the LG ThinQ Speaker, which comes with Google Assistant built in.

This essentially converts the speakers into voice digital assistants, much like Google Home or Amazon’s Alexa-powered Echo product line.

“Sound technology has come a long way since LG introduced the first radio to the Korean market almost 60 years ago,” stated Tim Alessi, head of product marketing at LG Electronics USA. “Our latest lineup of audio products has been designed for those listeners who value premium sound with smart-enabled capabilities, and demonstrates how LG continues to push the boundaries on how people enjoy music and movies.”

LG already markets a smart home speaker with smart home control with Amazon’s Alexa included.

Many other audio products are expected to be launched at CES, which is the case every year.
