LinkedIn has published its annual ranking of top companies based on career growth. The 2024 list features 50 honorees—all companies that are offering their employees what LinkedIn says are eight pillars that lead to career growth progression:

  • ability to advance
  • skills growth
  • company stability
  • external opportunity
  • company affinity
  • gender diversity
  • educational background
  • employee presence in the country

For this year’s list, LinkedIn has highlighted how a number of the companies are using AI-related solutions to help their employees advance on their career paths.

LinkedIn says seven of the 50 companies on this year’s list are notable because they are “providing employees with tools and reskilling opportunities to supercharge their generative AI capabilities.” These companies are:

  • JPMorgan Chase & Co. (the company that holds the No. 1 overall spot on the list), which opened the AI Maker Space facility at Carnegie Mellon University. The facility focuses on helping students learn about AI software development.
  • Amazon (No. 2) launched the Amazon AI Ready initiative, which will provide free AI skills training to 2 million people by next year.
  • AT&T (No. 7) launched the Ask AT&T platform, which allows employees to interact with an AI chatbot that will help them to do everything from generate code to get summaries of their meetings.
  • Verizon (No. 8), which holds Gen AI Hackathons to help train employees to understand generative AI technology and tools.
  • EY (No. 118), which launched a chatbot that assists employees in idea generation and research.
  • Procter & Gamble (No. 22), which offers “Competing in the Age of AI” classes from Harvard Business School.
  • KPMG (No. 27), which offers its employees GPT communities for sharing knowledge.

Another reassuring finding from LinkedIn’s 2024 top companies list is that despite the wave of mass layoffs that have hit the tech sector and other industries in the past two years, the companies on the list are currently hiring for more than 85,000 roles combined. Even better, a third of those open jobs are hybrid positions.
