Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle – Co-op Challenges and Mischievous Boos
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle – Co-op Challenges and Mischievous Boos
If there’s one thing that the Rabbids have taught us by joining forces with Mario and friends, it’s that teaming up is a very good thing. In Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, players will be able to do just that in the special co-op challenges designed to test your teamwork skills. While the single-player campaign puts you in control of three heroes, these co-op challenges let you and a partner control two heroes each by using Joy-Cons or Pro controllers on a single Switch system. With an extra hero in your squad, there are more strategic possibilities for you to explore as you maneuver through the specially designed stages, provided you and your partner can agree on how to proceed. To see Mario + Rabbids co-op in action, check out the video below:
You might also recognize a familiar face in the new Spooky Trails world, one with a big smile full of pointy teeth, perhaps? That’s right, everyone’s favorite mischievous ghosts, the Boos, are haunting the world of Spooky Trails and hitching rides with anyone who walks too close to them. Friend or foe, the Boos are happy to mess with anyone they can, teleporting their target to a random place on the map and throwing your best-laid plans into disarray.
Boos might cause trouble by placing an enemy on your flank, or they might help you out by moving your hero close to your objective. The mission we played challenged us not to vanquish every enemy, but to get one of our heroes to a highlighted area clear across the map. As you can imagine, the meddlesome Boos did not make this easy. Spooky Trails is the third world in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, so the development team reckons you’ll be ready for a challenge by the time you get there. New scenarios and tougher enemies will raise the stakes, which means that there will also be bigger rewards for victory.
Combat isn’t the only way to earn rewards, however, and in the video above, you can get a glimpse at some of the puzzles you’ll face when exploring the mixed-up Mushroom Kingdom. The video also offers a look at a few skill trees, so check it out for a peek at how your heroes’ abilities will grow stronger and more versatile over the course of the game.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is coming out on August 29 for the Nintendo Switch. To find out more about this turn-based combat adventure, take a look at the UbiBlog’s previous coverage.
