Mazda Invites Consumers To ‘Drive For Good’
by Tanya Gazdik, November 22, 2016
Mazda North American Operations is launching its fourth annual “Drive for Good” event, running through Jan. 3.
As part of the 2016 Mazda Drive for Good, consumers are invited to take a test drive and for every one completed, Mazda will pledge one volunteer hour to a charity in the community. When consumers buy or lease a new Mazda, Mazda will donate $150 to one of the select national or local charities of the consumer’s choice.
Mazda is partnering with NBCUniversal for a contest, where the winner, or the organization‘s representative, will attend NBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” on Nov. 30, and will be recognized for their influence in the community. The winner will receive a $30,000 donation — money raised as part of the 2016 Mazda Drive for Good program.
Mazda is launching a multifaceted campaign across all media channels including a national 30-second TV spot featuring Mazda employees showing how they give back year-round. In addition, there is a two-minute cinema piece highlighting a Mazda dealer and dedicated Mazda Drive for Good volunteer in Charlotte, North Carolina. The automaker is promoting the initiative on social media with the hashtag #MazdaDrive4Good.
The campaign was created as a result of a collaboration between Mazda and Mazda’s creative partner WPP’s Garage Team Mazda.
The automaker is collaborating with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and the Mazda Foundation (USA), Inc. on a national level. In addition to the four national nonprofit organizations, Mazda Dealer Marketing Groups around the nation also have the opportunity to partner with local nonprofit organizations, which enable new Mazda owners to select an organization closer to home.
Since its launch in 2013, Mazda has donated more than $13 million to charity and has pledged more than 195,000 charitable service hours. A dedicated Web page at MazdaUSA.com/drive4good shows Mazda’s progress and features other content. Consumers that purchase or lease a vehicle during the event period can direct their donations through this page.
