Microsoft, Salesforce Vets Launch Startup With $23M To Automate Data Privacy
Former executives from Microsoft and Salesforce believe they have developed a way for businesses to automate data privacy and security.
On Wednesday they announced the launch of their company, Ketch, backed by $23 million in Series A funding from CRV, super{set}, Ridge Ventures, Acrew Capital, and Silicon Valley Bank.
Izhar Armony, general partner at CRV, and Theresia Gouw, founding partner at Acrew Capital, will join Ketch’s board of directors.
The company is led by Ketch co-founders Tom Chavez and Vivek Vaidya, who spent more than two decades building data platforms.
Chavez and Vaidya co-founded Krux in 2010, which Salesforce acquired in 2017. The two executives used their experience in building platforms that captured, analyzed, and activated consumer data. Chavez also founded Rapt, which Microsoft acquired in 2008.
Ketch builds consumer privacy preferences programmatically into internal systems and external platforms, such as customer relationship management, e-commerce, martech, analytics, and others.
This is a fully automated system that focuses on data privacy and governance through a set of applications, infrastructure, and APIs.
The system’s architecture automates the collection and use of consumer data to ensure compliance, even as laws and regulations rapidly shift with consumers’ expectations.
The company’s platform includes the ability to leverage one framework to manage complex global privacy programs by specifying, initiating, and enforcing the right privacy program for every consumer in every region, in addition to cross-channel consent management, data subject rights requests, and data security and controls.
