Xiaomi is known for providing great smartphones and budget prices, and today’s news will just increase the company’s popularity. Xiaomi has struck as cross-licensing and patent transfer deal with Microsoft that will allow Xiaomi to pre-install MS Office with Skype on its Xiaomi smartphones from September 2016.

Xiaomi and Microsoft

Microsoft hasn’t done anything great this year in terms of hardware, so the company did good by signing this deal with Xiaomi. Millions of people around the world use Xiaomi smartphones, and this is a good way to spread Microsoft apps globally. Anyway, Skype and MS Office are extremely popular, and this new deal will make people love Xiaomi smartphones even more.

This is not the first time Microsoft has struck such a deal with a smartphone manufacturer. A similar deal was made by the company with Samsung, so Galaxy S6 and later devices come pre-installed with MS Office and Skype. Talking about Xiaomi, the Chinese company already partnered with Microsoft earlier for various reasons, one of them being to provide Windows 10 on Mi Pads.

Senior VP of Xiaomi, Xiang Wang, commented on this deal by saying:

We are excited to be working closely with Microsoft on a broad technology collaboration partnership.

As demonstrated by this agreement with Microsoft, Xiaomi is looking to build sustainable, long-term partnerships with global technology leaders, with the ultimate goal of bringing the best user experience to our Mi fans.
