Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti To Be The Last Card With Pascal Architecture
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti To Be The Last Card With Pascal Architecture
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is expected to be launched at the upcoming PAX, scheduled to take place in Boston from March 10 to March 12, 2017. PAX is a show exclusively for gaming that draws tens of thousands of attendees every year. While Nvidia has chosen to remain silent about GeForce GTX 1080 Ti launch, an MSI representative more or less confirmed the launch will take place in March.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti to be the last card with Pascal architecture
From all the information that we know about Pascal so far, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be the last card sporting Pascal architecture. Boasting of 12 billion transistors – much higher than the 7.2 billion GTX 1080 – the Ti variant is expected to provide a major boost to gaming systems. According to previous reports, GTX 1080 Ti will feature 10GB of RAM, however, a new report from University Herald claims that the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is expected to come with 4.8GB RAM and a higher bandwidth variant sporting GDDRX5 RAM.The California-based company, however, is all set to launch the next GPU architecture known as Volta, which could very well mark the end of Pascal architecture.
Expected to be launched with a price range of $650-$1200, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is likely to face serious competition from AMD. So far, AMD’s cards haven’t quite managed to beat Nvidia’s cards in terms of performance. But things could change soon. AMD unveiled the widely anticipated Vega GPU at CES 2017 and is all set to launch their high-end Vega GPU in early May. Vega 10 boasts of insane advancements in technology. The new architecture will handle memory traffic much more efficiently and will cut back significantly on wasteful memory allocations. Vega 10’s High Bandwidth Cache Controller reduces wasteful memory allocations by nearly 50%, effectively translating 8GB memory into 16GB memory.
It looks like we’ll finally get to see some serious competition from AMD. Nvidia, on the other hand, will aim at capturing the market with their new Volta architecture after establishing ground with the new GTX 1080 Ti.
