Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Will Offer Beastly Raw Performance With 3840 FP32 CUDA Cores

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 got a lot of attention, but it’s now time to shift our attention towards the GTX 1080 Ti, which will be the actual Pascal flagship. There are a lot of speculations and rumors going around, and it is being said that the GTX 1080 Ti will be based on the GP102, and the speculated specs suggest that the card will be a beast!

First of all, it is not yet confirmed if the GP102, the possible gamer version of the GP100, exists or not. However, many rumors have been suggesting its existence again and again, and it is being said that the new core will be available in the GTX 1080 Ti as well as the new TITAN card. You should take this information with a pinch of salt, as we are just discussing the rumors and speculations here.

The GP102 will essentially be a GP100 focused on FP32, and it will be lesser in size as compared to the GP100. WCCFTech suggested that the die used in the GP102 will lie somewhere between the GP100 and the GP104. So guessing by that, the measurements of the GP102 should lie between 462mm² to 478mm². It is believed that it will have around 3840 FP32 CUDA cores, and this will result in a power consumption of 270W with the chip having GDDR5X memory. With HBM2, the chip will consume 250W power.

So the GTX 1080 Ti based on the GP102 with a die size of around ~470mm² will offer great performance with the 250W power limit. It is expected that the GTX 1080 Ti will give out two times the raw performance of the GTX 1080, thus making the Ti a highly desirable 4K/60 graphics card.

We don’t yet know whether the new card will be called GTX 1080 Ti or if it will be a new TITAN card. The details are still very unclear at this point, and we should wait for more concrete leaks before we can say anything solid.
