One In Four Online ‘Almost Constantly,’ 11% ‘Never’
About a quarter of Americans say they are online “almost constantly,” according to findings just released by the Pew Research Center. While the survey is based on self-reported responses, it’s worth noting that Americans at least perceived they are more connected today than they were just two years ago.
Pew said the survey, conducted in early January, is five percentage points higher than one it conducted in December 2015.
“Overall, 77% of Americans go online on a daily basis,” Andrew Perrin, a research analyst focusing on internet and technology, writes in the new report, adding, “That figure includes the 26% who go online almost constantly, as well as 43% who say they go online several times a day and 8% who go online about once a day.”
Perrin notes about 11% of Americans go online “several times a week of less often.”
Perhaps the most interesting finding in the report isn’t the percentage who say they go online, but those who do not.
The study found 11% of American adults do not use the Internet at all.
