It is very obvious that with the right set up, remote work can be incorporated in the company culture because many workers expect and love to work remotely for at least part of their work days. So companies that accept remote working even in part have better chances of attracting more productive employees. According to a 2017 state of remote work, companies are likely to see 25% less staff turnover if they accept remote working.

Essentially remote work has gone from simply a passing fad to a mainstream river that is sweeping across companies. The productivity that comes from working from home cannot be simply ignored. A good number of employees (49%) say that the flexibility to work from home increases their productivity. Moreover, research shows that employees who spend more than half their working hours working remotely report feeling engaged and feeling more that they make more progress. As a matter of fact, the number one reason most people prefer to work from home is increased focus and productivity.

Why working from home will become the new norm

The reasons why working remotely increases productivity is that there are less distractions such as impromptu meetings, office gossip, loud and annoying colleagues. According to Sure payroll, 86% of workers say they hit maximum productivity when they work alone. In fact providing an environment for few distractions for a disciplined worker can yield a lot of results.

According to FastCompany, the workplace has become increasingly progressive with wonderful virtual tools to make working remotely a reality for most companies. Things like virtual reality conferencing, task collaborative tools are becoming the preferred forms of communications between employees. All these are playing a major role in promoting the remote work culture. Consequently, hiring managers expect more workers to prefer remote working flexibility.

Worldwide, more than half of people who work from home want to increase their remote working hours. More workers say if they can find a full time remote position, they would readily leave their positions so long as it is at the same time.

This growing population of the agile working population are causing companies to rethink their work demands and flexibility.
