A preliminary look at the Salary Guide from Mondo, an Addition Group staffing agency, suggests the top-paying jobs this year will belong to chief marketing officers and chief information security officers.
The 2020 Tech, Digital Marketing & Creative Salary Guide contains insights on the latest tech, digital marketing, and creative hiring trends and salary data. The full report is scheduled for release Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
About 15 tech jobs will pull in at least $200,000 in annual salaries, with 13 digital marketing roles generating salaries of $175,000 or more.
The top-paying job reportedly belongs to the chief information security officer, at between $175,000 and $300,000 annually. The chief marketing officer will make between $165,000 and $250,000.
The data around tech jobs shows that skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, business intelligence (BI) and data, as well as development and operation’s collaboration, and cloud services are highly sought after, with each category bringing in salaries around $200,000.
About 61% of the digital marketing jobs have salaries of $175,000 or more. They are listed at director level or above. The chief growth offer will being in between $165,000 and $200,000; VP of MarTech between $135,000 and $200,000; and VP of digital marketing between $135,000 and $200,000.
Technical jobs around demand generation, marketing automation and ecommerce also offer high-paid positions. Marketing automation architect, for example, is expected to bring in between $130,000 and $200,000, while VP of ecommerce will bring in between $125,000 and $180,000; and director of web analytics will bring in between $110,000 and $175,000.
The report also points out some interesting changes in hiring laws. For example, many states and cities have introduced laws that do not allow the use of a job applicant’s salary history as a baseline for job offers, and competitive rates are expected.
Supply and demand always set the rate for the market, and the data shows that location matters, with the highest salaries found in New York City and San Francisco.

For a creative and marketing specialist at an advertising and marketing agency, working as an account director in Los Angeles will bring in an annual starting salary between $113,190 and $204,600. The midrange salary was at $135.960. The same job in Manhattan is estimated to bring in between $120,479 and $217,775, with a midpoint salary of $144,715.
