Report Reveals Gamers Want To Be Part Of Development, Shows Fastest-Growing Websites | DeviceDaily.com

Similarweb, which tracks global web traffic and performance, released data on Friday highlighting the most-visited websites in several sectors during 2021. Those sectors include beauty, apparel, food and drink, gaming, and financial services, among others.

Gaming stood out — not for the categories’ more than 392 average growth rate in 2021 vs. the prior year, for the top 10 sites, or the 243,700 average monthly visitors, but for the change in perspective.

Gamers no longer just want to play. They want to be part of developing the game, according to Similarweb.

Websites that took advantage of this shift in thinking — with players as creators — benefited in 2021. Sandbox.game, for example, gives customers tools to build avatars, vox models, and games and saw more than 1,278% year-over-year (YoY) traffic growth.

Traffic to everskies.com skyrocketed 3,050% YoY, as it allowed gamers to create personalized avatars. Eorzeacollection.com, a site for sharing creations saw more than 229% YoY traffic. Wiki platform for community contribution to the game itself, pzwiki.net, also showed strength with traffic rising 225% YoY.

A peer-to-peer marketplace for gamers, traderie.com, came in at No. 4, growing visits by 1,396% YoY, with nearly two dozen games where players bought and sold tokens, weapons, and more before being transferred through in-game meetups.

Visits to electronics sites also grew quite a bit, more than 392% for the top 10 sites, according to the data, with an average of 243,700 average monthly visitors.

Six of the 10 top electronics sites sold smart home products or large-format portable power generators designed for emergencies or mobility. The rise of portable power boosted traffic for brands like ecoflow.com, which grew more than 196% YoY; and jackery.com, which grew 152% YoY.

Demand for large-format portable batteries also skyrocketed as work from home employees took their jobs on the road and power failures caused by weather were top of mind.

Shoppers researched smart lights, sensors, and cameras from aukey.com, driving up visits by 135% YoY, while govee.com grew 233% YoY and zmodo.com grew 114% YoY.

Websites that took advantage of the shift — players as creators — benefited in 2021. Similarweb released data on Friday highlighting the most-visited websites in including beauty, apparel, food & drink, gaming and financial services.
