One of the latest robotic vacuums to hit the market is Roborock’s newest model, the S6 MaxV. The newest ones like this robotic vacuum also do the mopping, too. Here’s my review.

About the Roborock S6 MaxV

The Roborock S6 MaxV is one of the largest robotic cleaners available. It’s packed with features but still easy to use, maintain, and clean. The top of the robotic cleaner has a Clean/Power button as well as Dock and Spot Clean buttons. There is also a raised LiDAR navigation sensor. Then, on the bottom of the robotic cleaner, there is the main brush and an edge-sweeping brush as well as many cliff sensors that keep it from falling down the stairs.

One of the main features that sets it apart from other vacuum — mop robotic cleaners is its AI-enabled obstacle-avoidance feature. Known as ReactiveAI, it helps the robot vacuum and mop not get stuck on anything.

The system includes two cameras and an on-device artificial intelligence image processing system intended to identify obstacles, estimate size and location, and automatically avoid around them. It is supposed to be able to spot even the smallest of obstacles. All images used by the AI system are immediately deleted.

More Features

Beyond the obstacle avoidance system, there are more features and gadgets on this high-end robot cleaner. You get an app, voice control, automatic scheduling, and zone cleaning. The Roborock app works for Android and iOS devices.

It allows you to save up to four maps that address different levels in your home. Through the app, you can also create virtual No-Go and No-Mop Zones. You can designate up to 10 No-Go Zones, 10 No-Mop Zones, and 10 Invisible Barriers for each level of your home.

Select from five cleaning modes: Balanced, Gentle, Quiet, Turbo, and Max. The S6 MaxV has a 5,200mAh battery that gives you up to three hours of continuous cleaning in Quiet mode and without the mop system.

In Balanced mode, it went for just under two hours before it got down to a low battery and returned to its charging dock. To control the vacuum and mop, you can use a remote that comes with it, the app, or voice control in Amazon Alexa.

Pros and Cons

Both the vacuuming and mopping are very effective in terms of cleaning power. There is strong suction and the ability to catch even the smallest amount of dirt. The water tank and mopping plate are large, enabling it to cover more ground in one cleaning cycle. It works best on hard floors as well as low-pile and medium-pile carpet.

More good things about this robotic cleaner are the scheduled cleanings and Amazon Alexa integration. It also supports virtual boundaries. Set-up is fairly easy to understand and complete. Maintenance is simple, including not necessarily having to empty it out after every cleaning.

On the other hand, there are cons, starting with a high price. While it’s packed with technology, it doesn’t always work as it should. For example, the AI-enabled obstacle avoidance technology didn’t always work plus don’t assume it will sense carpet when mopping and automatically avoid it — because it won’t.

Where to Buy

The Roborock S6 MaxV is available on Amazon for $ 749.

Overall Thoughts

The Roborock S6 MaxV cleans better than any other robotic vacuum/mop combo I have tried. However, that incredible capability comes at a sizable price albeit less than the $ 900+ Roomba model with similar features. Also, there needs to be more work done to make the AI-based obstacle avoidance technology consistent.

However, if it’s in your budget — then this is the robotic cleaning combo to get. If not, there are hybrid robotic cleaners for as low as $ 250 that do a lot less — but do cover the cleaning basics.
