SEO Firm Moz Acquired By Email Firm iContact
Search engine platform Moz has been acquired by iContact, a company that specializes in email marketing.
Moz offers such solutions as Moz Pro, technology that helps brands target the right keywords and analyze results. This transaction integrates that SEO capability with iContacts’ email expertise.
“Together, Moz and our email marketing brands should continue to offer technology solutions to enable small and mid-size business to grow and prosper,” states Michael Pepe, group general manager and senior vice president of J2 Global, parent of iContact and its sister brands Campaigner, SMTP and Kickbox.
In the first quarter of this year, J2 Global achieved a 19.8% increase in revenue YoY to $398.2 million, compared to $332.4 million for the first quarter of 2020.
Moz sees SEO as “a critical strategy for growth and brand recognition,” states Sarah Bird, CEO of Moz.Bird adds that Moz’s mission remains the same.
Bird says Moz will maintain its brand and its 160-person team, and will probably add staff, according to an article in Puget Sound Business Journal.
Among Moz’s clients are Zillow, Alaska Airlines and Aaron’s, the article says.
Moz was started as a blog in 2004 by Rand Fishkin and Gillian Muessig. In 2016, the firm reversed a planned expansion into inbound marketing, shifting its strategy back to “what we know best: search,” the company says on its website.
