TikTok Goes After LinkedIn Job Search Market
TikTok has launched a pilot program in the U.S. that allows users to create a video resume and submit it to one of the 34 brands participating in the project.
The pilot program, TikTok Resumes, aims to expand on TikTok’s channel for recruitment and job searches. Candidates are encouraged to create a video to showcase their skills and creativity.
The video-creation site teamed up with brands like Abercrombie, Chipotle, Contra, Movers+Shakers, Shopify, Target and others — about 34 companies — to launch the U.S. pilot, which is available through July 31.
“#CareerTok is already a thriving subculture on the platform and we can’t wait to see how the community embraces TikTok Resumes and helps to reimagine recruiting and job discovery,”Nick Tran, global head of marketing at TikTok, wrote in the blog post.
There are quite a few U.S. job openings, from art directors to creative directors, posted on the site. Samsung, for example, is looking for a creative director and art director of design in McKinney, Texas.
A landing page on the TikTok site offers tips in a FAQ page to help those who want to use the new feature.
With the rise of career and job-related creative content, TikTok believes there is an opportunity to bring more value to people’s experience by enhancing the utility of the platform as a channel for recruitment.
Short, creative videos, combined with TikTok’s built-in creation tools, have created new ways to discover talented candidates and career opportunities.
