U.ok. Prisons Have a major Drone problem

at least 9 drones have attempted to infiltrate prisons in the U.okay. in the first half of 2015.

Inmates in the U.k. had been organizing deliveries of gear and electronics by the use of small drones, The sun experiences.

Over the weekend, The sun stated a drone crash on the class B Bullingdon penitentiary in Bicester, Oxfordshire. The drone contained large amounts of cannabis, in addition to cellphones and chargers. “The drone used to be in a part of the jail with out CCTV,” an insider told The solar. “It was once well-planned. We’ve no idea how time and again this manner of smuggling has been used before.”

but this crash is just the most recent in a string of drone drops—consistent with the U.okay. Ministry of Justice, at least nine drones have attempted to infiltrate prisons in the U.k. within the first 1/2 of 2015.

the possible security possibility reaches beyond smuggled medicine or luxurious gadgets, as drones may be used to carry guns or different weapons.

For now, the penalty for smuggling unlawful supplies into a prison is two years in prison, however components of the U.okay. are calling for more critical consequences. In September, a jail provider spokesman instructed the BBC, “we’re introducing new law to further beef up our powers, making it unlawful to land a drone in prison or to use a drone to drop in psychoactive materials.”
