Uber Will Now deliver Xiaomi Smartphones To Your Door

for those who live in Singapore or Malaysia, that is. discuss a genius publicity stunt.

Xiaomi, a chinese language telephone large looking to boost its profile in international markets, is attempting the mummy of all publicity stunts: delivering phones to buyers through Uber. This morning, Uber announced that it would ferry Xiaomi’s new Mi be aware smartphone to customers in Singapore and Malaysia.

In a facebook submit announcing the launch, Xiaomi international head Hugo Barra stated gross sales would kick off on July 27. He explained that buyers would be able to request a phone supply very like they already do an Uber experience:

Ordering a Mi word follows the exact same course of as calling for an Uber — you simply open the Uber app, use the slider at the bottom to choose “Xiaomi” (which displays Xiaomi-orange colored Uber automobiles on the map equipped to deliver the new smartphone), and hit request. payment can be charged instantly to the credit card tied to your Uber account and a Mi observe will likely be delivered to you inside a few minutes. lovely cool, right?

Xiaomi, an business leader in China, has struggled to penetrate foreign markets; the corporate poached Barra from Google’s product management crew to oversee its global growth. It’s doubtful whether this advertising move benefits Xiaomi or Uber more: each are publicity-hungry companies looking forward to expansion within the very profitable markets of Singapore and Malaysia.

prior this year, Xiaomi overtook Uber as the world’s most profitable startup. The partnership is a first for the two firms.
