Microsoft has released a new cumulative update 10586.420 for both the Windows 10 PC and Windows 10 Mobile. This update is applicable to devices running the 10586 version of the OS and are yet to upgrade to Redstone branch.
Firstly, being a cumulative update, this doesn’t bring any new features to the table. You get the usual bug fixes and overall improvement to the operating system with performance and stability in focus.
There are more refinements to Cortana, as Microsoft notes, “a fix for a problem that sometimes resulted in a crash when performing a search, and corrections to inaccurate times after Daylight Savings Time (DST) on meeting cards and reminders.”
Other than that, you have bug fixes, which includes unexpected battery drain when syncing mail using IMAP along with problems that prevent users from installing keyboards and languages without resetting the phone completely after upgrading from Windows Phone 8.1.
Lastly, starting with this update, users have 7 days to restart the phone and receive updates, down from 14 days. Microsoft has also made some tweaks to the shutdown timing so you will see “Goodbye” disappearing sooner. The bug that stopped the phone from ringing when a message was received has also been addressed.
To get the update, head to Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates.
