January 10, 2016
In a shocking win over heavyweights like American Horror Story and Fargo, the PBS drama, Wolf Hall took home a Golden Globe.
Best TV Limited Series or Movie
American Crime (ABC)
American Horror Story: Hotel (FX)
Fargo (FX)
Flesh and Bone (Starz)
WINNER: Wolf Hall (PBS)
Mark Rylance and Damian Lewis star in Wolf Hall, based on the books of Hilary Mantel, and premiering on MASTERPIECE on PBS. It is a six-part adaptation of two of Hilary Mantel’s novels, Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. Wolf Hall was first broadcast in April in the United States on PBS and in Australia on BBC First.
In recent news, Peter Kosminsky, whose production of Wolf Hall is one of only a handful of programs to be shortlisted in three categories at tonight’s Golden Globe Awards, said that British film-makers needed to “get up off our arses and try to rock the boat a bit more”, by making dramas about political issues that would “rattle the gates of the House of Commons”.
Hollywood stars of screens both big and small are all together at the The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards. The Golden Globe Award is an American accolade bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign.
Hosted by Ricky Gervais, the yearly show celebrates the best of film and television.
