Yelp VS Google Reviews
Who reigns as the review king?
Both Google Reviews, and Yelp are powerhouses with a long history in the business.
Both of them are influential.
But which one is the better choice?
Yelp Pros
1) Established as a trusted review authority for 10 years
2) Yelp backlinks provide a lot of SEO value
3) #1 place users go to search for reviews
4) 100’s of millions of views per month
5) Free for business owners
Yelp Cons
1) Accused of pressuring businesses to pay for better reviews to be displayed
2) Review algorithm can be unpredictable, not all reviews will be displayed
3) Yelp reserves the right to terminate your listing at any time for any reason
Google Reviews Pros
1) Being listed in Google My Business helps with your Google Rankings
2) Google Reviews are normally displayed higher on the page results than Yelp
3) Free for business owners.
4) Better review algorithm – and no pressure to pay for better reviews to be displayed!
Google Reviews Cons
1) Fewer views than Yelp per month
2) Not as easy to navigate and find a particular business listing on Google Reviews
3) Not as easy to dispute inaccurate reviews
Which one should you focus on?
For now, the answer is both and depends on your type of business.
While Google is slowly winning over the public with its seemingly unbiased treatment of reviews.
It’s not fast enough.
Some people still consider Yelp the king of review websites and for good reason.
Yelp only focuses on reviews, while Google Reviews is just a small part of Google empire.
I usually tell clients to focus on Google and then move to Yelp or do both at the same time.
By monitoring both, you’ll gain valuable insight into how your customers, clients, or patients feel about their experience with you.
Good or bad, honest feedback is the best way you can maintain your reputation and grow your business.
